What is black spot algae?

Black spot algae is one of the more difficult types of pool algae to remove. It can form stubborn dark spots or patches on pool surfaces and may be particularly difficult to eliminate with standard chlorine treatment alone.

Lo-Chlor Concentrated Black Spot Algae Killer combines an organo copper complex with Alkyl Dimethyl Benzyl Ammonium Chloride to provide a targeted treatment for resistant algae strains.

How to use Black Spot Algae Killer

For best results, the manufacturer recommends a pool pH of 7.0–7.2 when treating black spot algae.

Dosage:
1L treats 50,000 litres of pool water.

Do not superchlorinate the pool for 48 hours before or after adding the product.

For severe algae infestations, use in conjunction with Lo-Chlor Black Spot 900 Algaecide, following the manufacturer's directions.

Important: This product should not be used in pools using ionisers or Nature 2 systems. Always follow the product label and safety directions before use.

Important pool care note

After using a Lo-Chlor algaecide, the manufacturer recommends testing your pool water for phosphates.

When used in a pool with a salt chlorinator, this product can occasionally cause fine bubbles to form on the water surface. The manufacturer states these generally dissipate after the chlorinator is switched off.
